About Us
The business was started in November 1988 by Alan James. Since then it has grown into a two partner practice employing a qualified manager, a tax specialist and nine staff. The firm is registered and regulated by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales to conduct audit work. We are a general practice firm providing the core business services you expect. We are backed up by external experts as matters require.
Until April 2009 the firm was based in the beautiful surroundings of Shepperton Marina but after 20 years it has relocated to modern offices in Chertsey. The new office is easily accessible by road or rail, and is conveniently located for the M25.
In terms of qualifications both partners are Chartered Accountants with Alan James qualifying in 1980 and Keith Edwards in 1991. The partners are supported by Simon Dawkins, a manager who is a Certified Accountant. In addition to the mainstream accounts/audit/specialist business advice areas there are two separate areas - payroll and taxation. Payroll is controlled by our business support manager, Elaine King. This department now controls in excess of 100 separate payroll schemes. The personal tax department is managed by Barbara-Anne Hunter who was a former tax officer.
In addition to these services we perform ARLA audits for estate agents and RMAR reports to the FSA for deposit takers, insurers and investments firms. We also undertake statutory audits on companies with turnover of up to £30 million.
The business has grown to having a base of approximately 1,000 clients, comprising limited companies, partnerships, sole traders and individuals. The type of activities carried on by our clients is varied, ranging from artists through computer contractors to builders, market research companies, recruitment bureau and sports clubs.
